Introducing David Millar, our Managing Director
Our team at Aintree Plastics has recently expanded, with the appointment of David Millar as Managing Director.
David joined Aintree Plastics in January 2020. Before that, he worked as the Operations Manager for a leading European packaging company.
We sat down with David to have a quick question and answer session to find out more.
Can you tell us a bit about your background?
I have 34 years experience in manufacturing. I started as an engineering apprentice, and have progressed through different roles to my current position, and in a number of different industries.
Where did you work previously, before joining Aintree Plastics?
Before joining Aintree Plastics, I worked for a large competitor so I have experience in plastics, matched with insights from a variety of other industries. The one thing that links all of them is the importance of people, and at Aintree Plastics, I have met some of the best I have worked with.
What does your job entail?
Working with the team at Aintree Plastics on our current and future plans so that it continues to be successful.
What is a typical day like?
Every day is different, but there are some things which are routine, such as our structured Daily Meeting process, which we use to drive the performance of the business. We may face different challenges but by maintaining these types of processes, all aspects of our business remain in control, and we are able to meet the expectations of our customers and other key stakeholders.
What's a common question you get from customers?
Many customers want different things, even if they are in the same market segment, but they all want excellent levels of service and value, and this is where Aintree Plastics excels.
What do you like most about your job?
I like being part of a team with a successful history and strong values.
What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
I enjoy a busy family life with our three young children.
Do you have any other hobbies or interests?
I enjoy motorcycling and rebuilding motorbikes, and keeping fit through cycling.
What is your ideal holiday location?
One where we can have an active outdoors holiday, and learn about another culture.
Who would you most like to swap places with for a day?
A younger me, to relive and fully appreciate some of the fantastic moments in my life.
