Q&A with our Sales Director, Mark Woolridge

We had a question and answer session with our Sales Director, Mark Woolridge, to find out more about his role. Mark joined Aintree Plastics in March 2019 as Business Development Manager, but has since moved to the position of Sales Director.

How long have you worked in this industry for, Mark, and has much changed over that time?

I have worked within the film extrusion industry sales arena for over 30 years, and have seen some significant changes over the years. The one consistent thing over that time is customers’ high expectations, which we strive to meet in all its guises.

How does working at Aintree Plastics compare to previous companies you have worked for?

I have found working at Aintree Plastics to be the most service orientated business out of all my roles to date, which gives me real confidence when dealing face-to-face with clients.

What does your role entail?

I work on developing business opportunities with new and existing clients, through working with an internal and external sales team, and looking to deliver value for our customers.

What is a typical day like?

Every day is different, from face-to-face client meetings, working in the office with the internal sales and production team, to spending time with the external sales team. All of my time is client-centric. Without them, we don’t have a business.

What’s a common question you get from customers?

We are currently facing dramatic changes within our industry, so we are continually looking at ways to help our customers with the challenges of reducing packaging waste.

All our films are recyclable and we work closely with our customers to offer value engineered solutions. We often get customers telling us that their large volume orders are resulting in virtually zero yields, which is great to hear.

What do you like most about your job?

I enjoy finding ways to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations, whilst working within a strong team. I believe in building strong working relationships and always working towards the best solutions for all parties involved.

What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

That’s easy, travelling and cooking. Well, actually, the eating part!

What is your ideal holiday location?

My favourite location has to be Thailand. The culture, the people and of course, the food.

Who would you most like to swap places with for a day?

Actually, I wouldn’t! I love my wife and family, I have some great memories to look back on, and hope to make many more. But maybe having a slimmer waistline and a little more hair!
