Product Announcement – EcoXtreme

Aintree Plastics are delighted to announce a brand new range of products for 2022, which are made from a high performance and high strength blend - EcoXtreme.

EcoXtreme has been formulated to show our ongoing commitment to environmental concerns by targeting a reduction in our customers' packaging use. EcoXtreme will help reduce the amount of single-use polythene packaging waste that finds its way into landfill, or which pollutes our oceans, beaches, countryside, and streets.

Our EcoXtreme blend will enable our customers to reduce the thickness, volume and cost of the packaging that is used. With the work carried out by our Product Development Team, supported by investment in our testing facility, we can, with full confidence, offer tailor made, value engineered packaging solutions that:

  • Reduce Waste
  • Reduce Cost
  • Improve Yield

Our EcoXtreme polythene products have been designed to offer the strength and performance of higher gauged standard products, whilst retaining full functionality.

“Following the successful launch of EcoExel, EcoXtreme demonstrates our ongoing commitment to Environmental Sustainability by developing products which are aimed at reducing plastic packaging waste. We are delighted to offer these new product ranges to customers.”
David Millar, Managing Director
Aintree Plastics

This new EcoXtreme specialist blend will be readily available for most applications, but we suggest it will be best suited for the following products:

We have seen great success and sales growth following our previous new product launch of EcoExel, which is our range of products that are made from a 30% Post Consumer Waste blend, and we are expecting a similar response to EcoXtreme.

EcoXtreme is a great option for polythene applications that are unable to use 30% Post Consumer Waste blends such as EcoExel, so are liable to the Government's new Plastic Packaging Tax. EcoXtreme will enable our customers to reduce their volume of plastic waste and offset these Plastic Packaging Tax costs.

What is the Plastic Packaging Tax?

The Plastic Packaging Tax is a new tax coming into effect from April 2022 that applies to plastic packaging that is produced in (or imported into) the UK that does not contain at least 30% recycled plastic. Therefore, an inclusion of 30% recycled Post Consumer Waste (PCW) material is required to be exempt from this new tax.
