We had a question and answer session with our new Manufacturing & Compliance Manager, Scott Griffin, to find out more about his role at Aintree Plastics.
Hi Scott, please tell us a quick summary about your work background before working at Aintree Plastics.
I have 20 years’ experience working in the blown extrusion industry. I started out as an Operator in September 2001, and eventually became a Shift Manager in charge of over 35 personnel. I have worked across a wide variety of areas including quality, processes, direct training of operators, and building teams from scratch.
Has much changed during your time in the industry?
A lot has changed over the past 20 years, and it seems like there’s something new to be aware of every week. Whether it be for Health & Safety, quality specifications getting tighter, or regulations changing. Blown film extrusion has gone very technical over this time, and there’s more focus on reducing our carbon footprint and helping our planet.
What is your job title and when did you start working at Aintree Plastics?
My job title is Manufacturing & Compliance Manager. I started working at Aintree Plastics in March 2021, so it has only been for 2 months so far, but I am loving my new role. I oversee the Health & Safety and Quality on our site. Every day is a challenge, but a good one, and I am really enjoying coming to work each day.
How does working at Aintree Plastics compare to previous companies you have worked at?
Working here has reinvigorated my love for this industry. Even though Aintree Plastics is smaller in size than my previous employer, there is a more structured way of working and everyone gets stuck in. I really enjoy the professionalism of everyone I work with.
What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
I enjoy spending time with my wife and two daughters, who I adore. When I get free time, I enjoy playing golf, walking, and taking my daughters to football and horse riding.
What is your favourite sport and sports team?
I support Liverpool FC and my favourite sport is golf. I am a massive Tiger Woods fan.
What is your ideal holiday location?
Anywhere with my family, as long as it is hot!
