Q&A with our Compliance Manager, Ethan Aaron

Our Compliance Manager, Ethan Aaron, joined Aintree Plastics in December 2021. We sat down with Ethan to find out more about his role.

Hi Ethan, please tell us a quick summary about your work background to date.

I have 14 years' experience of working in manufacturing, and 12 of those years were spent working in the blown extrusion industry. I started as an Operator, and through the years, progressed to Shift Leader. In this time, I have built up a great knowledge in all aspects of the job such as health and safety, compliance, quality, process, and leadership.

What does your job entail?

As Compliance Manager, my roles and responsibilities are to maintain the Integrated Management System to ensure it is current, compliant, and meets the business needs. I lead audits, such as for our BRCGS certification, ISO 9001 Quality Management, and ISO 14001 Environment Management. I also identify process problems and non-conformances, then develop corrective actions. Other duties include communicating changes in legislation, quality, and environmental aspects to all key personnel, and ensuring this is filtered down to all relevant parties.

How have things changed in the plastics industry since you began working in it?

Things have changed massively over the past 12 years. It feels like something is changing every day, whether that be in health and safety, a quality specification, or new modernised machinery.

What do you like most at Aintree Plastics?

The thing I like most at Aintree Plastics is the professionalism that everybody carries in their roles, whether that be in sales, customer services, finance, management, maintenance, operators, or material handlers.

What is Aintree Plastics doing to help the environment?

Aintree Plastics are driving numerous initiatives and support several schemes to help the environment. Recent examples include Operation Clean Sweep and our Waste Film Collection Scheme. We also offer a large range of recycled blends with our latest being EcoExel and EcoXtreme.

What are your thoughts about the new Plastic Tax that came into effect on 1st April 2022?

Aintree Plastics offers several options to fulfil the needs of the new regulations, and we have worked side-by-side with our customers, both new and old, to prepare them for this. We have continuously worked hard to produce a wide range of products to satisfy our customer needs.

What are your hobbies or interests outside of work?

I like to spend time with my wife and children, making memories. With five kids and another on the way, I don’t have much time for anything else!

What is your favourite sports team?

My favourite team is Liverpool FC.

Do you have any favourite music or TV shows?

I like all kinds of music, and when it comes to TV, I like watching crime documentaries.

What is your ideal holiday?

My ideal holiday would have to be somewhere nice and hot, with plenty of activities to keep the kids happy.

What is your favourite food or drink?

Nothing beats sitting back with my wife and tucking into a Chinese, with a few cold beers to wash it down!
